Contralesa Eastern Cape provincial chairperson Advocate Mwelo Nonkonyana speaks to Daron Mann about new rules stipulating a reduction in the number of traditional leaders serving in local government.
The new laws reduce the number of traditional leaders serving on councils from a maximum of 20 percent to a maximum of three councillors.
Nonkonyana said this not only went against previous agreements but also discriminated against traditional leaders and was done without consultation.
